Privacy Policy

Poussée is built privacy-first. Your games stay on your device. We do not sell data, run ad networks, or profile you.

The short version: Poussée never sends your chess games, moves, or positions to any server we control. The AI coach runs entirely on your device using Apple Foundation Models (iOS) or locally in your browser (web).

What we collect

We collect the bare minimum needed to keep the app stable and improve it.

  • Crash diagnostics — when the app crashes, a stack trace is sent to Sentry. Personal data is automatically scrubbed. Retained 90 days.
  • Anonymous usage events — things like "puzzle solved" or "game started," with numeric properties only (rating, move count). No FEN, no PGN, no usernames. Powered by PostHog. Opt-out is available in Settings.
  • Device model and OS version — so we can fix device-specific bugs.

What we do NOT collect

  • Your chess games (they live on your device, in your iCloud, or in your browser's localStorage).
  • Your location.
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA). There is no ad SDK in the app.
  • Microphone audio, beyond in-session voice-move recognition that runs on-device.
  • Camera frames, beyond on-device board scanning that never leave your phone.

On-device AI coach

On iOS, the AI coach uses Apple Foundation Models, which run entirely on your device. On the web, the coach uses pre-built explanation templates. Your positions, moves, and game data are never sent to Apple, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any third party for coaching.

Accounts & authentication

Poussée works without any account. If you choose to sign in (via email magic link), your email address is stored securely by Supabase to enable cross-device sync. We never share your email with third parties or send marketing emails.

Data storage

  • iOS / macOS: Progress syncs via your personal iCloud using Apple CloudKit. Poussée has no access to your CloudKit data.
  • Web: Progress is stored in your browser's localStorage. If signed in, it syncs to Supabase (encrypted in transit and at rest).
  • Desktop (Windows/Linux): Progress is stored locally on disk.

Game Center

Player-vs-player matches on iOS use Apple Game Center. Poussée never sees opponents' real names, contacts, or Apple IDs. Game Center handles all matchmaking and identity.

Third-party services

No advertising networks. No social SDKs.

Your rights

Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of any data we hold about you.
  • Delete that data.
  • Port your data to another service.
  • Opt out of anonymous usage analytics in Settings.

Email privacy@poussee.app and we will respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Poussée is rated 4+ and appropriate for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. There is no chat, no social feed, and no way for strangers to contact a young player.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app with at least 14 days' notice before taking effect.
