Blackburne's Mate is named after Joseph Henry Blackburne, the fearsome 19th-century English master called 'The Black Death.' This pattern uses two bishops and a knight -- the first bishop sacrifices itself to expose the king, a knight drives it further, and the second bishop delivers the finishing blow.
