Blockade Strategy (Nimzowitsch)

Nimzowitsch's blockade principle: stop a passed pawn (or a dangerous pawn center) by placing a piece directly in front of it. The blocking piece neutralizes the pawn's advance while often occupying a powerful square itself. The pawn's strength becomes its own weakness.
