Opposite-Color Bishop Endgames

6 steps · Interactive

Opposite-color bishop endgames (one bishop on light squares, the other on dark squares) are famous for their drawing tendencies. Even a two-pawn advantage can be drawn because the defender sets up a blockade on the color the attacker's bishop cannot control. However, with many pawns or active pieces, the attacker can still win.
