The Philidor Defense

The Philidor Defense (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6) is one of the oldest openings in chess, named after the 18th century French master Francois-Andre Danican Philidor. Black defends the e5 pawn with a pawn, building a solid but slightly passive position.
