The Queen's Gambit

The Queen's Gambit is the most classical of all d4 openings. After 1.d4 d5, White offers a pawn with 2.c4 — but it's not a true sacrifice. White aims to undermine Black's central pawn and gain control of the center. It is one of the oldest and most respected openings.
