The Windmill

The windmill (also called a seesaw) is one of the most spectacular tactical patterns in chess. It combines discovered checks and direct checks in a repeating cycle that strips the opponent's position clean. The pattern: a piece gives check, the king moves, that piece returns to reveal a discovered check, the king moves again, and the cycle repeats -- winning material with each rotation.
