Two Knights Mate

The Two Knights Mate is one of the rarest and most satisfying checkmate patterns. Two knights coordinate to trap the king, with one delivering check and the other covering escape squares. Interestingly, two knights alone cannot force mate against a lone king -- but when the defender's own pieces or pawns restrict the king, the pattern becomes possible.
